Maureen Ann (Shutrump) Bartolo of Lawrence, IN; wife and mother, passed away by natural causes on Sunday September 6, 2015.
Born on July 26, 1958, Maureen is survived by her husband John also of Lawrence, a son Kristopher M. of Boardman, OH; a daughter Sarah S. of Indianapolis, IN; and son J. Joseph, Jr. of Lawrence, IN.
Preceded in death by her parents, Uletine M. (Portman) and John P. Shutrump and a son Matthew all of Canfield, OH. Maureen was a sibling of six, John Paul, Jr. of Austintown, OH, Yvonne Moore of Poland, OH, Laurel Campbell of Washington, PA, Jeffrey of Chula Vista, CA, M. Celeste McConnell of Wilmington, NC, and Colleen L. of Columbus, OH. Maureen also leaves two grand-children, fifteen nieces and nephews, eight grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and six surrogate grand-children.
Maureen fought not only for her family, but families around the state. Maureen had the capacity to listen without judgment. Her motherly instincts began at an early age. Maureen always made sure that everyone had someone to trust and rely on. She was a surrogate mother to many, providing a safe haven to those that needed it. She would rather not eat than allow anyone to spend a holiday alone.
Maureen was a member of the Indiana Bar and most recently was a volunteer with Indiana Legal Services, Inc. and the Indiana Law Project.
Rascal Flatts said it well about Maureen –
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to, Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small, You never need to carry more than you can hold, And while you’re out there getting where you’re getting to, I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too, Yeah, this is my wish.
The family wishes that memorial donations be made to the March of Dimes, 6330 E 75th Street #306; Indianapolis, IN 46250.
We will miss you always. Please wait for those that love you and those that you love.

My deepest condolences to all of my Bartolos. Growing up alongside Sarah, I got to know Mrs. Bartolo very well. She was always kind and welcoming to me. Sarah is my dearest, longest, most important sister from another mister. She and Joseph are to young to lose such an important person. I hope i can be of use throughout this difficult time in your lives. I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH! !!!
